Country superstar Kane Brown took to social media earlier this week to introduce fans to a new trio called Restless Road. Revealing that he had just signed the group to his record label, Brown also shared that he’s collaborating with them on a track on their debut EP.
Restless Road released the four-song project Thursday and also joined Brown on NBC’s TODAY Show to perform their collaboration, “Take Me Home.” According to a press release, the song is one Brown was saved but never recorded. When he started working with the trio, he pitched them the song. The mid-tempo pop/country track gives a nod to John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
“Take Me Home” was written by Ari Leff, Michael Pollack, Michael Matosic as well as “Take Me Home, Country Roads” writers John Denver, Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert.
A video to accompany the song was also released Thursday. The clip features shots of the trio working with Brown in the studio and singing the song with him on stage at his recent sold-out STAPLES Center show mixed in with shots of Restless Road walking around what appears to be a desert.

Bound to be a breakout act of 2020, the debut of Restless Road is a full-circle moment for Brown and band members Zach Beeken, Colton Pack and Garrett Nichols. Brown initially met Beeken and Pack while competing on season three of The X Factor. They were all eventually eliminated from the show as solo singers, but Pack and Beeken were soon invited back to the show to compete as a group with singer Andrew Scholz. Eventually placing fourth in the season finale, Restless Road moved to Nashville to pursue a career.
Things didn’t pan out for the trio, however. A short-lived record deal and the departure of Scholz had Beeken and Pack thinking they were done. But, things soon changed when Garrett Nichols joined the group and Brown found Pack’s cover of his song “Good As You” online in 2019.
To further his support of the group, Brown offered Restless Road the chance to open for him on his Worldwide Beautiful tour, kicking off Saturday (Feb. 29) in Atlantic City, NJ.
The band’s self-titled EP is available now.
